Meet the Team

Melissa Lubbers-Billiot

Licensed Masters Addictions Counselor

Hello! I’m Melissa. I’m a Licensed Masters Addictions Counselor in the state of Kansas, and I’ve been supporting individuals with substance use disorders since 2015. As both a professional and a person in recovery, I understand the courage it takes to seek help and the importance of having support that feels genuine, respectful, and grounded in real-life experience.

I believe recovery is person‑centered and person‑driven. My role is to meet you exactly where you are, walk alongside you, and help chart a path toward the version of yourself you’re working to find. Together, we’ll explore what approaches resonate most with you—whether that’s Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, strengths‑based work, motivational interviewing, family or group therapy, faith‑based practices, or 12‑step support.

I am certified as a Medication‑Assisted Treatment Counselor, Tobacco Treatment Specialist, and Person‑Centered Case Manager. I fully support medication‑assisted treatment and take a holistic approach that considers the social, physical, emotional, and—when meaningful to you—spiritual factors that influence both substance use and recovery.

Recovery is not one‑size‑fits‑all. We’ll figure out what works best for you, together.

Kenai

Emotional Support Manager

Hi, Kenai your Emotional Support Supervisor. My qualifications include:

  • 15 years of experience staring deeply into human souls

  • Advanced certification in Lap Warming

  • A master’s degree in Quality Assurance

My job is simple: ensure you receive top‑tier emotional support services at all times. I conduct regular wellness audits (I may make an appearance during your sessions to ensure quality of care), enforce break policies (I stare at your intently until you share your snacks with me), and provide emergency interventions (I bark at things I can’t see).

If you’re crying, I’m there. If you’re stressed, I’m there. If you open the refrigerator door, I’m definitely there.

I take my role very seriously. I also take naps. A lot of naps.

Roo

Quality Assurance Manager

Hello, I’m Roo, the Quality Assurance Manager. My job is to ensure all emotional support operations meet the highest standards of excellence. I conduct routine inspections by trotting through the room, sniffing suspicious objects, and staring intensely at humans until they confirm all has been complied with.

I also perform surprise audits, which involve jumping onto your counselor’s lap without warning to verify emotional readiness. If she fail’s the test, don’t worry—I’ll administer corrective training immediately by nudging her hand until petting begins.

I take my role very seriously. I also take treats. Preferably immediately.
